Congratulations to DA Northeast Scholastic Gold Key Medalists!

Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards is the longest running, most prestigious competition for teeange artists. Douglas Anderson Visual Arts. This year, ten photography students earned Gold Keys and will advance to the national competition.


Catye Evoniuk won a Gold Key for her photography portfolio exploring through photography the affects of alcoholism on a family.

“Growing up in two households with divorced parents has had a profound impact on me and my portfolio. I am exploring relationships between parent figures and teenagers. In my work, I explore darkroom photography, double exposure, blending modes and self-portraiture. “



Kota Dupree won three Gold Keys for her interesting images, titled “Wallflower,” “His Reach” and “Puddle Seeker.”

“Since I was little I have loved optical illusions. I am always looking for them, I don’t start with expectations… I let my surroundings inspires me. I enjoy working with friends as models because I feel more at home, and that makes it easier to express myself. I’m to break down my surroundings to make something new with them.”
