Photo 1 experiments with freezing motion

Photo 1 is a year of intense technical learning. Students study Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, and many of them become certified associates in those programs. They also learn how to use the DSLR’s exposure settings and to choose settings that not only give them the correct exposure, but that also give them the ability to convey a message. One of their first experiments is learning about how shutter speed affects time and motion. It is always exciting for me to see students working together in teams to figure out the settings they need to freeze motion or to capture motion blur. I watch them move from tentative to engaged and inspired as they work together.
